On their final film together, Blier and actor Patrick Dewaere courted controversy — while also daring to pursue a contemplative rather than prurient take on the subject matter, which Blier again had done first as a novel. Dewaere, César Award-nominated, plays a man whose wife Nicole Garcia suddenly dies; he then faces teen stepdaughter Ariel Besse’s asserting that she is in love with him. The cinematography is by Alain Resnais lenser Sacha Vierny.
