Doctor-turned-writer-turned-director Michael Crichton’s best film is a tight, fast-moving medical thriller with Bujold—relishing the opportunity to play a determined heroine—as a doctor investigating a suspicious increase in coma cases at her Boston hospital. In true Hitchcock fashion, she uncovers a conspiracy but is met with skepticism by fellow doctor/love interest Michael Douglas and fatherly chief surgeon Richard Widmark.
