Suburban Baltimore housewife Mink Stole and maid Jean Hill accidentally (more or less) kill the former’s husband, and hide out in Mortville with lesbian couple Susan Lowe and Liz Renay while Edith Massey plays demagogue to the shantytown. Championed by critics including the Village Voice’s Tom Allen, who wrote in his review that Waters is “a driven, integral stylist,” the writer/director served up what would be his final X-rated movie, popular at the Quad in initial release.
