The second of Taylor’s back-to-back cult films with Losey, following Boom!, is a dark psychological thriller. In London, impoverished courtesan Taylor encounters ethereal Mia Farrow (“more haunted than in Rosemary’s Baby,” touted the poster), who startlingly resembles her dead daughter; equally unnervingly, Farrow sees in Taylor her own late mother. With Robert Mitchum, Peggy Ashcroft, and a BAFTA Award-nominated score by Richard Rodney Bennett.
