Adapted from the J.B. Priestley play (who makes a cameo appearance), They Came to a City is an Ealing Studios outing into utopian philosophy and socialism. Directed by Ealing stalwart Basil Dearden, the film follows nine people of varying backgrounds and characters as they enter a mysterious city and see it as an opportunity to start anew.
