Writer/director Tuggle afforded producer/star Clint Eastwood a chance to wade into darker waters within a police thriller context. Playing a New Orleans homicide detective, Eastwood subtly conveys conflicting impulses as the cop’s own sexual predilections color and complicate his investigation into a series of sex crimes and slayings, even as he tries to keep rape counselor Geneviève Bujold and daughters Alison Eastwood and Jenny Beck out of harm’s way.
