In Fellini’s fantasia fugue macho businessman Marcello Mastroianni’s train ride detours into a dream state where women—or an idea of women—rule, he’s in for a rude awakening. As Fellini orchestrates production design by Dante Ferretti, cinematography by Giuseppe Rotunno, and costumes (or lack thereof) by Gabriella Pescucci, this is a trip well worth taking.
