Allan Dwan’s 1922 big-budget spectacle was not the first nor would it be the last iteration of Robin Hood brought to the big screen, but it most certainly is a significant one. With a previously unheard-of budget of approximately $1 million and adventure star Douglas Fairbanks in the leading role (and as co-producer and screenwriter), Robin Hood, aka Douglas Fairbanks in Robin Hood, was a massive smash hit and stands as a pinnacle of 1920s Hollywood, setting the fabric for what would become known as a Hollywood blockbuster.
