In Timbuktu the people endure a chaotic Jihadist reign of terror in which music, laughter, cigarettes, even soccer are forbidden. Outside town, Kidane lives peacefully in the dunes with his wife, his daughter, and their 12-year-old shepherd until their destiny changes when Kidane accidentally slays the fisherman who caused the death of “GPS,” his beloved cow. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
