In response to recent national events, the Quad is proud to present this expansive survey of films that capture the immigrant experience in America. Covering over a century of cinema, these two-dozen comedies, historical epics, documentaries, sci-fi fantasies, and more show every aspect of emigration to—and assimilation within—the U.S., from the excitement to the hardship. They are works that—much like the characters they depict—transcend borders.
Select shows screen with a 4K restoration of Charles Chaplin’s The Immigrant, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2017.
Note: Due to a technical issue, our 5/21 screening of Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania has been cancelled.
